Frequently Asked Questions
PAYET is a slow-fashion silk house founded on the principle of "The Art of Becoming." We believe clothing is a form of personal alchemy and a daily ritual that helps a woman choose how she wants to feel and express herself. Our garments are designed to be invitations, allowing the wearer to step into their own possibility, asking the transformative question: "Who do you want to be today?"
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur, id aliquet malesuada nisl vulputate nulla ut elit. Ut inties iutio sed epremmentum erat.
For PAYET, slowness is a deliberate strategy. It is the defining marker of our luxury. This commitment ensures:
Rarity: Intentional, limited production runs that prevent over-saturation and preserve the brand’s value. Luxury is defined by what cannot be rushed or mass-produced.
Artisan Honor: Slowness restores the human hand to the center of the story, elevating craftsmanship and care from the Bali-based women artisans.
Longevity: Designs are seasonless and adaptable, meant to evolve with the wearer and remain enduring companions rather than fleeting trends.
PAYET is a silk house, utilizing silk for its fluid, transformative, and luminous qualities: the perfect canvas for our vision. We are committed to ethical and sustainable practices, which include prioritizing peace silk and natural fibers. PAYET also uses natural fibers such as linen and viscose silk.
Our production is intentionally small-batch, partnering with skilled women artisans in Bali, Indonesia. This relationship honors traditional handwork, preserves generational craft, and ensures each piece is made with care, patience, and ethical practice.
Botanical dyeing is a core practice at PAYET, viewing color as craft rather than commodity. We use plants, roots, and herbs to allow color to emerge naturally through time and attention. This deliberate process means:
Uniqueness: No two garments are exactly the same. Each dye bath reflects the season, the plant, and the moment it was made, resulting in tones that are alive and nuanced.
Meaning: Botanical dyeing transforms the garment into a living talisman, carrying the wisdom of plants, the rhythm of nature, and the intention of the maker.
Due to the delicate nature of silk and our botanical dyes, we highly recommend hand-washing with a pH-neutral detergent or dry cleaning. Follow our instructions under our CARE section, but generally:
- Use cold water for hand-washing.
- Avoid wringing the fabric.
- Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight.
